Vehicle Description Need to Sell, give me your best offer Converted Syncro transporter to Westy Syncro and did an Amazing job. It is beautiful, the sink, fridge, and stove all work well! The canvas is clean . No leaks with the poptop. The bed is a double (a little bit bigger than the original Westys). I bought it in 2006 and put in the Subaru engine(2007) made custom tables and a shelf, brakes (more is listed below.)
Alright, the quirks/down and dirty.- Everything I am listing I have yet to attempt and fix unless otherwise noted. I just have not made the time for it yet. The engine block was cracked so my past mechanic put in the refurbished 94 Subaru engine in 07 and it has been great! The power and speed increased as well as reliability and its incredibly easy to work on. I have tightened the belts and replaced the alternator - easy and accessible. Also after the conversion, the exhaust was loud and I was told it was part of the conversion/sound of the van. Come to find out the gasket was missing as well as brackets to support the exhaust manifold, coolant tank, and connecting some breather hoses, so I it fixed by Utah Imports. A brand new gasket was put on, brackets were installed on the exhaust and coolant tank, breather hoses attached and a new air filter put in because of the breather hoses. And now she purrs! The tachometer does not work due to the conversion - you can buy an additional part that sits of the dash, or go by ear/feel. I had the brakes replaced last fall. Washer fluid does not work. Heater puts out a little bit of heat, but you cant crank it. The ignition switch went (replaced and works just fine.) The power locks are now manual, and I'm in the processes of fixing the drivers side power window (It will not open), There is no ac (although it would not be too hard to add that, I have started the process.) When there is a strong cross wind and your going over 70, the cubby on top rattles. There is one seat belt on the bench seat. There is some rust on the muffler, it would take just a light sanding job and high heat paint to protect it.
The perks - There is a Subaru engine in, The tables are custom hard wood, as well as a shelf, ac is a possibility. I replaced the Fill valve on the propane tank this winter. Also I bought a back up regulator although it is not needed now, that will come with the van. I replaced the back brakes last fall. The headlight switch two years ago, kept a log on the Subaru engine - any maintenance, work, oil changes, ect. As well as all of the receipts. There is a skid plate that I have yet to remount to protect the engine. Also a bug screen for the back, and a shade for the front window. The kitchen works well, as well as the electrical hookups. Lets see, other questions folks have asked - Yes clean title. I will send pictures. No smoker history.
Here is a more comprehensive list. On the outside - Full size spare, unused. Tires are looking as though they will have to be replaced soon... approx 10,000 miles. There are what I like to call acne spots on the front paint job from rocks ect... I do have a bra for the van that I have not put on. The lights - Brights, turn signals, dims, parking, and emergency lights are all in good working order. The reverse lights are out. Front doors work, handles intact, Locks work (Manuel) power mirrors work, drivers side window is still out, I have not tried to fix it yet, passenger side works, horn is out. No cracks in the windshield nor in the mirrors, Whippers work well. One of the screw covers on the whipper unit is missing.(I'm not sure how to explain that better, its the piece attached to the van, the cover to the screw is missing, it still works just fine.) Deer whistles on front bumper. There is a bit of rust starting up on the seams, 12v electrical flap is missing, new propane fill valve, and a new regulator (unattached and unneeded now, I bought it just in case) There is some of the decorative trim missing on the front drivers wheel well.
