Looking for a luxury SUV on a budget? That sounds like an impossible task given their premium price, but anything is possible on the used markup. Luxury vehicles see some of the sharpest drops in price once they’re driven off the lot. While that’s unfortunate for the previous owner’s return on investment, it’s great when shopping secondhand. These used SUVs can be found for nearly half their initial price and they’re only a few years old with well under 100,000 miles. You gain all the prestige, luxurious appointments, and the notoriety tied to them for a fraction of the price. Here are ten great luxury SUVs you can purchase for under just $25,000!
Let’s start with a nice luxury subcompact option from Volvo. The XC40 is a great little crossover SUV that’s packed with great features paired with a Swedish utilitarian design. Customers can find gas powered examples from just last year available at a price below $25,000, but if you go back even just another year or two the options expand further. You can find the T5 R-Design models with standard all-wheel drive, the most potent engine option, and a lot of luxury features like a panoramic roof, standard navigation, and an alternative sporty appearance. There are also plug-in hybrid and fully electric models available from a couple years ago for fuel conscious buyers. Whatever route you choose, you’ll be getting one of the best luxury subcompacts for nearly half its original price.
BMW’s compact X3 entered its fourth generation just this year, leaving the previous generation to dramatically drop in price. If you look back to 2021 and earlier models, you’ll fit right into our $25,000 budget. While these sporty, luxury compacts are about four years old now, you gain a BMW experience and tech on par with modern non-luxury classed vehicles. These used BMW X3 models carry great handling, standard driver-assistance features, available all-wheel drive on the xDrive equipped models, and a well-equipped cabin space. There’s woodgrain and nickel trimming, faux-leather surfaces, comfortable seating, and a 10.3-inch infotainment touchscreen display. For those looking to gain M performance, step back to 2019 M40i models. A couple more years and miles on these X3s, but the turbocharged 3.0L inline-six-cylinder producing 355 horsepower makes for a fun purchase.
Speaking of athletic luxury SUVs, how about a slightly used Jaguar F-Pace. You can find this British brand’s compact SUV for under $25,000 if you shop for 2021 or old models. Like the BMW, the F-Pace carries a tech forward experience that’s on par with modern affordable options while also exuding performance and luxury qualities. While it has quirks, the 11.4-inch curved infotainment touchscreen system is aesthetically pleasing and can do just about anything a brand-new car can. The interior is equally nice with its minimalist, yet showy design. In terms of performance, the turbocharged 2.0 inline-four is the typical option paired with the standard AWD. However, 2019 and earlier models can be found with the potent turbocharged and supercharged 3.0L V6 engine on the cheap if that sweetens the deal for you.
The Discovery Sport is another British compact SUV that focuses primarily on off-road in contrast to its Jaguar cousin. We suggest the 2020 and 2021 models as these received updates to the model that make it even more of a bargain at our budget. For 2020, Land Rover added a more powerful turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine was made standard and a hybrid variant of it was added. The exterior facias and interior of the Discovery Sport were also revised to better match the larger Discovery model and make it more appealing. In terms of mechanical pros, you get standard AWD, off-road capability (especially with the trail-rated equipment), a comfortable ride, plus the chance to find one with the optional third row. Inside is an upscale, comfortable cabin experience. Plus, a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen system and standard driver-assistance features bolster this Land Rover’s tech.
When one thinks of a luxury vehicle, Mercedes-Benz is the brand that comes to mind nine times out of ten. So having the chance to pick up one of these Benzs for less than $25,000 is pretty exciting. You can find the Mercedes-Benz GLC from the tail end of the last generation for nearly 50% off their original price – and that’s with the odometer sitting around 50,000 miles and less than five years old. These luxury compact SUVs are packed with quality materials throughout and provide a comfortable space for every passenger. The only problem while shopping used is, there were only option packages instead of trim levels for the GLC. So, you’ll have to do some research into whether the one you’re looking at has faux leather or real leather, ventilated seats, heated seats, RWD or AWD, and so much more.
Let’s bump up to the mid-sized luxury SUV options. First, take a look at the third generation Acura MDX between 2017 and 2020 model years. The MDX shares a platform with the Honda Pilot but in a more upscale package. Inside is three rows of seating, a dual-screen infotainment system, and luxury adornments like faux-woodgrain trim. The real pros of this option though is that it can be found with the extensive AcuraWatch safety suite and the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive for under $25,000.
The Audi Q7 is another mid-size luxury SUV that can be found with a third row, but with a heightened, tech-forward experience. You’ll find models from 2021 and older with the sub $25,000 price tag with varying miles on the odometer and in nearly every trim. All of these Q7 models come standard with AWD and will either feature the efficient turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder or powerful turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine. Inside is a polished cabin experience comprised of leather upholstery and upscale appointments like faux-woodgrain and piano black accenting. If you shop 2019 and older, you’re presented with a single infotainment screen while being able to access the top-of-the-line Prestige trim, but 2020 and up models gain the dual screen setup for infotainment and HVAC duties.
Another Beamer of note under $25,000 is the mid-sized BMW X5. You can find the first year of its current generation in that budget and gain all of the updated goodies. The only version you’ll find is the xDrive40i models featuring the turbocharged 3.0L inline-six engine and AWD. The inside laid out nicely with leather upholstered surfaces, a panoramic sunroof, heated surfaces, and ambient lighting. You might even be able to find one used with the optional massaging seats to really bump up the luxurious nature of this three-row BMW.
Lincoln also makes a nice luxury SUV option that you can find for under $25,000, and they’re as new as 2022. The Lincoln Nautilus is now onto its second generation since the 2023 model year, so you benefit from the tail end of the previous generation. The Nautilus continues Lincoln’s luxobarge history with its large shape and extensive luxury accommodations. Powering these used models is either a turbocharged 2.0L I4 or a turbocharged 2.7L V6 engine and they’re either in FWD or AWD configurations. The best trim to look out for in this price range is the Reserve as it provides a panoramic sunroof, a Revel audio system, plus heated and cooled front seats. Inside is a posh, spacious, leather wrapped interior with luxury trimming featuring wood and metal accenting.
Finally, we suggest taking a look at the Mercedes-Benz GLS when shopping for luxury at this price point. While these full-sized luxury SUVs will be from the second generation from 2019, Mercedes made sure this model keeps itself quality even after a couple years. Three rows of comfort, leather surfaces abound, heating and cooled surfaces (even the cup holders), and you can even find some used examples with the Appearance package that takes things up a notch with items like illuminated running boards and some alternate wheels.
The infotainment screen might seem a little dinky, but it does basic tasks well. And you’ll want to read through the options lists on used GLS listings to make sure you get the safety packages you want to keep things easier on the road. The GLS might not have the extensive tech some of the smaller options on this list do, but it makes up for it with immediate style and extra space for people and things.
