Toyota took its time updating the Highlander as it continues to sell hundreds of thousands of Highlanders every year. No need to break something that’s not broken, right? But finally, the Highlander is truly an SUV to be reckoned with. Now built on the TNGA-K platform, this vehicle can perform and hold its weight against third-row SUVs like the Kia Telluride and Ford Explorer. Luxurious, Yet Rugged
Toyota has upped their game inside the 2020 Highlander. With luxurious interiors, endless cupholders, privacy screens, and reclining seats for the second and third rows, the Highlander is a smaller, yet mightier crossover. The vehicle seats 8 passengers (including the driver) and offers all the luxuries you can expect from USB ports, climate controls, and cord-free phone charging.

If you go with AWD, the Highlander offers four modes: Mud & Sand, Normal, Rock & Dirt, and Snow. This allows the Highlander to traverse any kind of terrain based on the click of a button by changing the amount of power on the wheels. Alongside that, the Highlander also has Sport, Eco, and Normal modes, too, to help manage your fuel efficiency.
A hybrid version will be available, too, and you won’t want to mark it off the list. The combined fuel efficiency for the Highlander Hybrid comes to 36 mpg, which is a heck of a lot for a 7-passenger hauler.
Highlander Tech
We mentioned the USB ports and the wireless charging, but the Highlander’s tech doesn’t stop there. Standard on all Highlanders, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and even Alexa can connect to the infotainment system. On the most premium trims, the Highlander comes with a 12-inch infotainment screen, the biggest Toyota has to offer. A 360-degree view from 4 cameras gives you a good look around the Highlander before you take off on your next adventure.
We’ve Still Got Time
The Highlander gives us something to look forward to, but there’s still some time before it hits the streets. Pricing starts at $34,600 and can top out at around $50,000 for an outfitted hybrid or Platinum version. Though this vehicle hasn’t hit the roads, it’s already a winner in our eyes as it gives you the best of everything crossover. The Highlander is expected to go on sale this month and we can’t wait to get behind the wheel to test drive it ourselves!
