Now in its fourth year on the market, the third-generation Nissan Rogue receives a handful of feature updates and a freshening, inside and out, to help it compete in one of the most popular automotive segments – the compact crossover.
A facelift gives the Rogue a sleeker demeanor, while new colors and material textures dress up the cabin for 2024. Google Built-In debuts on SL and Platinum models, a first for any Nissan and one that promises even easier integration of our tech-heavy lives.
The relatively pricey Platinum trim line works to justify its $40,000 sticker with a new 19-inch wheel design and gloss black accents for the fenders and lower sills. But it is the updated Chestnut leather upholstery that brings the most verve to this top-spec variant.

Nissan fits a turbocharged 1.5L inline-3 to every 2024 Rogue. With 201 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, it punches above its weight class considering the Jeep Compass, that we compare to the Rogue here, has nearly identical output from a boosted 2.0L four-cylinder engine.
A CVT routes power to the front wheels, though AWD is optional for every Rogue model for an extra $1,500. A manual shift mode includes paddle shifters and drivers can choose from available settings like Eco and Sport mode. All Rogues also use Nissan’s Intelligent Trace Control and Active Ride Control, systems that seek to keep cornering tidy and pitching to a minimum via braking control.
One of the 2024 Rogue’s strengths is fuel economy. Idle start-stop helps here as does the automaker’s variable compression turbo technology. FWD models earn 30 mpg city, 37 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined while adding AWD running gear brings those figures down by 2 mpg in all categories.

2024 Rogues in S and SV trim feature an 8-inch central touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For the 12.3-inch screen and matching-sized digital gauge cluster, you’ll need at least an SL model, which also gains wireless smartphone mirroring. A 10-speaker Bose audio system is available but requires the range-topping Platinum model.
As for safety tech, Nissan fits every 2024 Rogue with forward collision mitigation, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams. This deep roster of safety nets along with 8 standard airbags helped the Rogue earn a 5-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick award (for the 2023 model) from the IIHS.

Adaptive cruise control, a lane-keeping system, and ProPilot Assist are standard from here on up and these models offer a $2,100 SV Premium package. It includes roof rails, PrimaTex leatherette upholstery, a panoramic moonroof, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, and manual rear sunshades.
For added style, Rogue SL offers a two-tone paint job and comes with 19-inch rims. Inside there is a heated steering wheel and front seats, leather in a choice of black or black-and-gray two-tone, a power-adjustable passenger seat, and a dual-level cargo management system.
From here on up, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, Google Built-In, wireless smartphone mirroring, navigation, a wireless charging pad, and a fully digital gauge cluster are standard. ProPilot Assist with Navi-Link, traffic sign recognition, and parking sensors for the front, rear, and sides of the vehicle are also added.
Going Platinum will cost you, but these high-end Rogues feature a panoramic moonroof, quilted leather with the option for a handsome Chestnut color, a Bose 10-speaker audio system, and a front central-mounted airbag. The $990 Platinum premium package adds a hands-free liftgate, triple-zone climate control, heated rear seats, and a head-up display.
From a value perspective, the 2024 Nissan Rogue SV is the way to go. It’s reasonably priced, adds nice features like a power liftgate and adaptive cruise control, and offers an optional package, which the base model does not. However, for about $500 less, a new Hyundai Tucson SEL offers a similar level of content and a far better warranty.
Nissan’s warranty has a 3-year/36,000-mile basic term, a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain term, and no complimentary maintenance. The Hyundai warranty has a 5-year basic term, 10 years or 100,000 miles of powertrain coverage, and 3 years of complimentary service.

The compact crossover segment is packed with options including the 2024 Nissan Rogue. It is a perfectly competent vehicle with solid gas mileage, a reasonable starting price, and a nice array of available technology to go with its big cargo hold. But it doesn’t really jump out from the crowd in any special ways.
It looks like most other crossovers which, in fairness, is a common trait of this segment. However, you can spend similar money for a Hyundai Tucson with its relatively spectacular warranty and step up to a hybrid or even plug-in hybrid model for all the gas mileage. In either case, be sure to consult the latest new car incentives first.
