All-new for 2025, the third-generation Buick Enclave is a radically different mid-sized crossover than the outgoing generation. With a 2.5 turbo four-pot under the hood and an eight-speed gearbox, there’s plenty of grunt to be found. Add a 30-inch compound display for the gauge cluster and infotainment screen, plus a spacious interior and solid fuel economy; the Enclave is a very different beast than before.
The 2025 Enclave represents an exciting first year of an all-new generation. One that past styling cues for a bold new direction rooted in past Buick concept cars. Paired with a bold new interior with luxury touches abound, everything’s new and it’s all exciting.

Bold new styling
Peppy engine
Solid fuel economy
Good Legroom
Great trunk space
No hybrid option
Radically different, in a good way
Say goodbye to the old 3.6L GM LFY V6 that once championed the Enclave in its second generation. It was a competent engine in its day, but the industry is rapidly moving towards turbocharged four-cylinder engines, and the Enclave had to adapt as a result. The Enclave shares DNA with the GMC Acadia and Terrain, The Cadillac XT5, and the Chevy Traverse and Equinox. Under the hood, a 2.5-liter turbo four-pot jets with 328 horses and 326 lb-ft of torque to either the front wheels or all four, depending on your choice.
That’s actually 18 horsepower more than what the old 3.6L V6 produced. And fuel economy holds up with figures of 20 city / 27 highway MPGs combined with the FWD powertrain. Expect around 2 MPG less when you choose the AWD option which is pretty much in line in the segment. Still, with the current popularity of hybrid vehicles, it would be nice to see a hybrid variant of the Buick Enclave.
The Enclave’s status as a mid-size three-row SUV lends well to interior space. With a 120.9-inch wheelbase, 41.46 inches of second-row legroom is to be expected. 32.1 inches of legroom in the third row is average, if not a little bit bigger, than rivals like the Mazda CX-90. They used to build minivans with that kind of room in the back. Elsewhere, there’s a healthy 22.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the seating area. With two rows of folding rear seats, the whole back of the vehicle opens up into a spacious 97.5 cubic foot cargo hold.
Leatherette seats come standard on the base Preferred trim and the Sport Touring trim, while Avenir adds plush perforated leather seat upholstery. We’d love to see leather across the range. However, keeping in mind the theme of more luxury than a Chevy but not as much as a Cadillac, the choice makes sense for this Buick. The steering wheel, complete with an old-fashioned Buick emblem, contrasts nicely against the clever dual-screen behind it, too. It’s a nicely laid-out interior that comes with good features, as you’ll see.
Speaking of that screen, the Enclave’s 30-inch compound digital gauge cluster and center infotainment screen is a delightfully elegant solution to interior screens. There’s mobile phone connectivity galore, plus a wireless charging pad in the center console. A Bose premium audio unit comes standard for the first two trims in the range, with a higher performance system from the same company occupying the Avenir trim.
Adaptive cruise control and Buick’s brand of driver assistance features are available from the base trim, and the option of Super Cruise hands-free driving on select roads and highways in North America adds a layer of refinement once reserved for outright luxury SUVs. In crash testing, the Enclave shined with a five-star NHTSA safety rating for peace of mind when transporting families.
A base trim in name only. Most of the features of the rest of the range, just with leatherette seats and 20-inch wheels
Gloss Black roof-mounted side rails, a high-gloss black grille, and exterior trim pieces, plus a special set of 20-inch wheels set the Sport Touring trim apart.
he Avenir trim ups the ante with 22-inch wheels, a panoramic power moonroof, and plush leather seats to make for a Cadillac without the badge. It’s the clear favorite of ours among the trim range, and one that might lure you away from more upmarket options from Lincoln or Cadillac.
The Enclave is a very competent mid-size SUV. One with good features, respectable interior space, and enough power for almost all who buy it. Still, the lack of a hybrid option really hurts. But it’s not outside the realm of possibility to see one added in the next few years. Until then, the Enclave lags behind the competition in the efficiency department.

Still, it’d be wrong to call the Enclave a bad vehicle. People who don’t care one way or another about hybrid drivetrains or squeezing every MPG out of their ride as possible are bound to really enjoy the Enclave. It’s a radical departure from what the marquee used to be, and that’s a good thing in this case.
